After a series of social media posts suggesting it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. It's called Space Key and developed in collaboration with an unknown artist, it is inspired by a piece advanced carbon fiber composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The latest project - dubbed the Space Key - is a piece of art made in collaboration with an unidentified artist. After weeks of social-media posts hinting at it, the luxury car maker Lamborghini finally announced its first initiative for tokens that are non-fungible (NFT). The Space Petron Key To Lamborghini is a collection of five items that unlocks an exclusive digital artwork by the yet to be identified artist. Created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm), the "collector's work" is limited to just five units and will be auctioned off shortly.

At the center of each Space Key is a block of carbon fire composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research program. After returning to Earth it was imprinted with a QR code, which connects it to the digital component of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Over 600 million pixels make each of the five images, which were shot by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner used a balloon equipped with a camera to capture each of the individual shots, which were then combined into the final image. The result is an image that is out of this world. It captures both the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic view of a car rising away from the Earth. The Space Keys will be auctioned off soon, but the exact date and time of the auction hasn't been set yet.
