Albums

The discography of American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, as well as a number of compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.

Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics due to lacking hit singles. In 1985, lead singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group The group held auditions for the new frontman. The band chose guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the special record. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar quit the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.

Videos

Toto has produced a number of music videos. The band has released a variety of compilation videos and DVDs. The most watched video by the group is "Africa", which has over one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library, where the band performs on top of a stack of African books.

The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. It was written by the band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge success in Europe as well as other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in the United States.

After the album's release, Toto went on a world tour. The group included touring musicians Lenny Castro and Shannon Forrest. Warren Ham, Shem von Schröeck and Shem von Schroeck were also in the group. In addition guitarist Steve Lukather released his second solo album, Luke.
